Constructed to a rigorous carbon neutral standard, this fire station built for the City of St. Catharines was completed in spring of 2025. The building structure is predominantly wood framed and incorporates structural steel. High energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems were installed including roof mounted solar paneling and in floor radiant heat in the apparatus bay. Demolition of the existing fire station was included in the contract and carried out by sorting materials to ensure everything was sorted and recycled. The building layout includes a truck bay, dorm rooms, full kitchen, hose drying tower, captain’s office and fitness room.
