ROYAL ROSE - WELLAND
Brouwer Construction was employed for this long-term care home both for the original building and an addition after completion. The original build consisted of a two-storey long term care home constructed of load bearing masonry and precast slabs. 5 years after the original build Brouwer returned to add a third storey to the existing building. There were obvious challenges to adding on top of an existing long-term care which were addressed by open communication with the ownership and care staff. The typical construction process was adjusted to ensure the building below remained watertight during construction and disruption to residents’ lives were kept to a minimum.
